I figured I should probably do a state of the nation address for this website considering that the past couple of articles have sort of been very haphazard in their topics. Yes I do have a grand master plan, no I don’t know all of the details, and no I can’t tell you. However what I can do is list a few of the things that interest me and will potentially become articles here.
Vista Beta
Earlier today I was jumping around the Windows Vista webpage and I saw a blurb stating that the second round of Beta testing for Windows Vista was coming up. I missed the first round of Beta testing but this time around I am on top of things and I am going to attempt to get a copy of Vista and review it. Here is the link for the application, however to register you must have either a Windows Live, MSN or Microsoft Passport account to proceed to the information page. You can easily create a hotmail account here if you don’t have one already. Once I completed the required form, an email was sent to my email account for confirmation. With that step out of the way I was brought back to the Vista homepage, so we’ll see where this goes. Hopefully I will have a chance to play with Vista and see if it offers any tweaks in performance compared to Server 2003 and XP.
Flock and Opera
For a while now I have heard people talking about the wonders of Flock and Opera. I have now decided to take the time to actually use these browsers and see what they are really about. While I don’t know a whole lot about Flock and Opera I am willing to spend some time researching and writing about them. Maybe I will find a new browser out of this but I doubt anything could replace my lovely Firefox. If you know of any other browsers I should check out, do let me know, I don’t discriminate. This should be an interesting review, should have lots of pictures.
Phase Cooling Round 3
My first unit was a flop and wasn’t worth publishing. My second unit was a complete success and I wrote about it, people loved it, sort of. This third unit should blow number two out of the water. I have spent the last week or so planning this thing out, it will be quiet, it will be insane, and I don’t even have to mention it will be cold, ice cold. While I don’t plan on writing much about the buildup on this particular unit, this unit will set the stage for my next testbed which will be Intel powered. No more coldbug for me, I am shooting for -50 Celsius unloaded and around -35 Celsius loaded. Maybe with the right materials I could take a shot at a few world records.
Product Reviews
I have reached the point in my online life that I feel I have enough background and interest to try and scrounge up some product reviews. In the coming months I would like to start reviewing various products with the overclocker in mind. Ranging from cases, heatsinks, motherboards, memory, and processors, I would like to be able to have a chance at putting what the world has at hand against the toughest tests I can create. While performance is my ultimate goal, I would like to keep acoustics and physical size in mind, so hopefully in the near future I’ll have some interesting product reviews. Check back in a week on this subject, should have a nice watercooling solution up soon.
The layout
Last on the list but probably most important would be the website layout. I still don’t feel like I have “optimized” this website for viewing what I write. I feel like it isn’t perfect and that there is room to grow. With that said, bear with me if the website doesn’t completely render correctly in your browser or if for some reason the website goes down. I am going to try and do all my developing on a personal server but some upgrades will be live, meaning you might see some ugly stuff.
That about wraps up all I have to say, just a quick list of what will be happening in the next month or so. Now back to worrying about my 9Rules application and hoping that I got in. This month and summer should shape up to be very interesting with some unique content, keep checking back here.
