A Small Orange and Theme

First off I hope you enjoy the new “theme” for this website. Since I am terrible with being artistic and creative this thing took me a few hours to hack together. Combine the lack of css knowledge along with the php hacking I had to perform to get everything looking just how I like it, I would have to say this is a miracle. I had a lot of help from the 9rules IRC channel, nothing like having the immediate opinion of 20 other people to help you make decisions. I think for right now I am done fiddling with this design, as far as I am concerned this is the final stage for this style. Time to focus on the more important things like content.

Today I spent the greater portion of 6 hours walking to and from A Small Orange’s office in Atlanta. I walked over to their office and I talked with Tim from ASO about perhaps working a deal with them and it looks like I will have a new home by the end of the month. Hopefully with this new server being located in Atlanta rather than Los Angeles my load times will be considerably faster for myself at least. However, one of the main reasons for switching to a local server would be that if something goes wrong, I can stomp down to the datacenter and beat the door down. I’m sorry to have to say good bye to Media Temple but I found a home elsewhere. Now I just hope this new server will be able to handle a beating like the Media Temple server did.

That is about it for right now, I am rather burnt out but expect something new tomorrow. Thanks for reading and being patient.

Time for celebration! You’re leaving my server, finally. =D

A Small Orange is great! I’ve been with them for over a year now and I have a couple of clients hosted with them.

They’re definitely a lot better than Media Temple.

Thanks everyone, I am very happy with the way the site has turned out. Now when I look at it I don’t fee like “ohhh gotta fix that too”. I’ve got a few more ideas that i want to throw in here, mainly the comment area and the title for individual articles, but this will essentially be the finished product. Let me know if you guys see anything that needs improving.

I too have been with A Small Orange for over a year now and have nothing but good times with them. Very fast and friendly service regardless of the question/issue, and the community forum is great place to get a ton of info. Nice choice.

Shawn, I was informed via 9rules IRC that you too were with A Small Orange, I am hoping their servers will be top notch. I liked their offices and usually how organized and “fun” the office reflects how the customer service will be. Hopefully this will be the start of a good time with A Small Orange.

Chris, I don’t know whether your know or not, but your new site is not being rendered correctly in Flock! Seems you are filtering out all other browsers to show default CSS except Firefox.

Yikes, I didn’t know this. Looks like on Tuesday or Wednesday I’ll have a few things to do. Thanks for letting me know, I’ll have to figure out what went wrong.

Interesting, I just loaded up Flock on my MacBook and looked at the website and everything works correctly. I also checked Firefox and Safari and both render nearly the same. Perhaps you might want to clear your cache just incase there are some files of mine cached there and the webpage should load correctly. Let me know if this works.

Oops! You’re right ! Once I cleared the cache things looks perfect. Thanks for resolving the issue so quickly :-)

No problem, glad the website is looking beautiful for you again. Thanks for reading :)

I’m a little late on this comment as I’ve been without internet for the past week, but I like the new look! I’ve heard great things about a small orange too.

Glad to see that you are back Ben, thanks for the compliment. So far ASO has been very helpful when anything goes wrong and even when nothing goes wrong. They definetly provide a great service with quick responses to my questions.
