HP Crossfire HTPC/KPC

I was cruising the Internet before I dropped off my research paper that I’ve been hacking out over the last week and I noticed that Engadget had a very interesting article on a new computer from Hewlett Packard. About two years ago I had written off HP as something to be consumed by Dell or to gracefully fall off the face of the planet but it looks like they are still cranking out computers and printers and this particular piece of hardware looks like it might actually have a market.

I’m not going to bore you with all the details of the hardware however it seems like HP will potentially be able to capture a unique market sector with this hybrid HTPC/KPC(Kitchen PC). At it’s core the Crossfire features a touchscreen PC along with a touchscreen gui based around Windows Vista along with a ton of media input/output options such as HD tuners and standard coax connections. With all the options available it looks like this could be a great control panel for a wicked home theater setup with the Crossfire driving a larger display while the touchscreen was used primarily for controlling the computer. Go checkout the Engadget article as this may interest a few of you. Now I only wish they hadn’t decided upon the Crossfire nickname as it conflicts in my mind with ATI’s Crossfire multi-GPU technology.
