Review: Core Temp

I love programs that make my life simpler and easier and Core Temp has been a fantastic program that has done just that. Whenever you are overclocking one of the most important vitals that you must monitor is the core temperatures on your processor. In the past I was forced to use a slew of various programs as not all motherboards were supported by various programs and some boards gave skewed results but that has been fixed with Core Temp. I’ve been using Core Temp for the last couple of months and I have been really impressed with how simple and lightweight it is.

Core Temp does an impressive job with temperature monitoring at the immediate time and over a period of time. The program saves it’s current data within a dump log which states the current processor speed and the temperatures of the cores detected. I find this to be extremely useful when I am performing stability tests and searching for a nice clockspeed to settle at as I can see patterns form in regards to core temperatures. This program has been indispensable in regards to aircooling overclocking as temperatures tend to skyrocket on air as the voltages are increased however the program still does a great job on below ambient cooling. Even if you aren’t overclocking your PC you may find the temperature data interesting. If you are wondering if your processor is compatible, check out the list of supported processors.
