Finals Week and Pre-Christmas Presents
12.11.06 - 10:21pm
If you noticed the slowdown of posts lately, don’t be TOO alarmed, it is only Finals week at Georgia Tech. I’ve been cramming my little brain with knowledge since Friday and I just had my first bout today and I think I did pretty well. Now I am leaking knowledge like a sieve until I begin cramming again tomorrow for my last final on Thursday. Hopefully all will go well and I’ll pass all my classes but my DSP(digital signal processing) class looks like it has joined the Titanic at the bottom of the sea.
In less academic and more entertaining news, my little foray into sub-zero aircooled overclocking was a moderate success. I tested out the new F8i bios on my Gigabyte DS3 and it helped increase my stable overclock considerably. After testing indoors a bit I moved my entire rig outside and began benching with the help of a little dry ice to help chill the Scythe Ninja Rev.B that was keeping my processor crisp and cool. I managed to push my processor past 4GHz and I was aiming for reaching a 100% overclock but was stopped short by 42 MHz. So as it stands I have officially reached 4224 MHz with 1.8 volts going through the chip and 2.4 volts going through the memory. It was an entertaining night and once I repair my single stage phasecooler I’ll be able to crush the 100% barrier and maybe reach 110%. Even with an ambient temperature of -4* Celsius and the heatsink smothered in dry ice, the processor was routinely hitting 70* Celsius under load at ~4200 MHz, so heat was greatly restricting me.
Asides from that little adventure, I have started receiving the Christmas gifts that I bought myself. The Scythe Ninja was the first gift, I also received a Kill a Watt meter which I’ll play around with and review in a few days, and tomorrow I should be receiving my new multimeter and low temperature thermometer. On Thursday I will be receiving a used dehumidifier which will become parts for my next upcoming build so that’ll also be very exciting. It is amazing the stuff you can find on ebay, it is like having a huge yard sale every hour of the day. I really wish I had some exciting articles to share with you guys but frankly I’m beat and I doubt I’ll be up to writing anything until Thursday night. Less than 5 days until Meagan gets back, can’t wait to finally have a girlfriend within the country again. Happy holidays everyone, stay warm. One last note, congrats to all the new 9rulers that have made it in with the new round, there were a few that I wanted in that haven’t been listed yet so there still is hope :)

This picture cracks me up. Thanks. I needed that. ;)
Good luck w/finals!
