Post-Finals Week

Finals are behind me and the results won’t be in for another 4 days so until then I’ll be pacing back and forth. Every semester it seems like I am put through an academic hell only to survive so hopefully the same will occur this year. Tomorrow I’ll be going to the airport to welcome Meagan home after having been gone for 7 months so this weekend will be entirely filled with story telling and I can’t wait to hear the stories she has to tell. Last night I finished construction on the third version of my phase cooling design, this one is even more compact and hopefully I can insulate and isolate all noises so that it will be a unit for 24/7 use. The compressor is a bit noisy when running under extreme vacuum so it might not have the best temperatures but it sure will hold an enormous load, I’m looking at roughly 200-225 watts at -35 celsius if I can have my way with it. I could run it cooler at around -50 to -45 celsius but it would only be able to handle about 150 watts and my Core 2 Duo will be pushing out considerably more watts of heat. Once I get my Fluke 16 and I have perfected my mounting mechanism I’ll post my results, I’m looking for breaking a 100% overclock and possibly a 4 GHz 24/7 operating speed, maybe even higher if I can keep it well insulated and tuned. Now that finals week is over I’ll get back to the ~daily dose of technology news, information, and observations. First up will be another bout with processor power consumption as I have the tools to make my own readings now.
