No Place is Safe

Of all the places for a mass shooting to occur, I wouldn’t have chosen Blacksburg, Virginia to be the place for 32 students to be shot dead on campus. Honestly I would have put Georgia Tech or Georgia State up higher on that list due to the urban enviroment but sadly today atleast one gunman went on a rampage on Virginia Tech’s campus. I hope that if there was another gunman that he is caught, it is times like these that make me wonder about America.
Agreed on all counts.
Yeah, it is a little odd; however maybe this is just ‘God’ (or whoever’s) way of population control, since people don’t die from diseases we have cures for now? :P
… or maybe not.
I’ve wondered about America for quite some time now. I still cannot begin to fathom how someone could get so distraught in life to kill young men and women at a place like a school.
I have no idea but it is very disturbing. People have clamored over the gun control laws for decades and I’d have to say something has to be done about this. I believe the UK has extremely strict gun control laws which have resulted in stabbings being more common than shootings, rather opposite to what occurs over here. People these days will go on a rampage at any location for what seems to be no reason at all, sad world we live in.
The UK does have more stringent gun controls. We do have a higher rate of stabbing than shootings, you can’t really legislate the sale of knives anymore since they actually have a legitimate use - cooking et al.
We’ve had quite a spate of stabbings in the Capital recently. That is not to say we don’t have gun crime, we obviously do, just the likelihood of someone snapping and getting their hands on a store bought gun (As happened here) is, well zero. I suppose you’d have to look at the rate of crime committed by those who wouldn’t have a firearm if it wasn’t available in a store bought situation.
The drug lords are always gonna have the guns, drug shootings as such won’t really be controlled by any legislation. (IMHO you need education there to remove the market for the sale and distribution of the narcotics)
