I’m a Raccoon

Not in the klepto sense but in the facial marking sense. I went out to Road Atlanta yesterday for the NASA Hotlanta Challenge where my dad was racing his 94 Z28 Camaro out on the track and I forgot to apply any form of sunscreen. Suffice to say 9 hours out on the track with just my clothing and Oakley’s protecting me created some very interesting tan lines. I’ve got a farmers tan on my arms that’d make a redneck jealous and I’ve got raccoon eyes. Stupidly of me I completely forgot to bring a camera out to the track and my A900 has a terrible camera so I was stuck with committing images to memory rather than recording for your pleasure. The highlight of the day was walking through the paddock looking at all the cars, there were hundreds of cars out there and there was a group going out every 20 minutes. I fell in love with a beautiful S14 out there with a dark pearl blue paintjob. Other honorable mentions were the slew of Porsche GT3 Cup cars, the gold Trans Am (sort of became friends), and the supercharged Civic Si hatch that was raping Corvettes. Yes, you hear me correctly. Was funny watching that little hatch come screaming down the straight with the charger whining and then braking at the last possible second and then whining up the hill and out of sight. I’m going back in September and I’ll bring a camera, it should be rather exciting. Dad’s Camaro is starting to look and sound more and more like a proper race car. Weighed in and with him in it she tips the scale at 3465 pounds with the original driver and passenger seats and front dash still in the car. Next up is a rollcage, a proper racing seat + harness, and removing the passenger seat. Sounds so much better with 3″ pipe rather than a cat also *grin*. Now back to rubbing lotion on my skin and telling myself I won’t get cancer. I also weighed Paul’s Mustang, she’s a fatty at 3545 pounds with a 3/4 tank of gas. Slimfast is in order.

rofl @ “fatty” for an 80lb difference. does your dad’s camaro have stereo and spare tire in it?

The front dash is still intact along with the door panels. Otherwise if it isn’t part of the chassis it’s been removed. Rather impressive I must admit and you can hear everything with zero sound deadening. Once he puts the cage in it I’ll take a ton of pictures. I guess after removing the passenger seat and replacing the driver seat, adding the rollcage, and removing the sound-deadening in the engine bay will actually add another 50 pounds or more but worth it for the rigidity it adds. Mustang is a fatty, it’s smaller and has a smaller block :D
