Microsoft Ships 65nm Xbox360’s
10.01.07 - 12:51pm
I myself bought one and lost it in my pocket, those pesky 65nm Xbox’s are so hard to keep track of. On a more serious note, it sounds like as of late Microsoft has finally made the switch from the 90nm tri-core CPU to the 65nm tri-core CPU and in the process have also cut back on the heatsink used for the CPU. The Xbox360 has been plagued with overheating problems which have primarily stemmed from the terribly cooled GPU which almost always results in the “Red Ring of Death” and an RMA. In theory these 65nm processors should help cut down on the total amount of heat dissipated by the Xbox360 and help keep the GPU slightly cooler than the typical “hotter than the surface of the sun” temps it seems to operate at. If you purchased an Xbox more than a few weeks ago then you are tough out of luck, apparently the new 65nm CPUs start with lot #0734. If you want to check you can take a glimpse in the exhaust vents of the Xbox, if you see a copper heatpipe then you have the older, hotter 90nm chip. Sounds like the Halo 3 edition Xbox360s are the best bet for the 65nm or you can just check all the boxes for a lot #0734 or greater. Now get back to fragging people on Halo 3 or whatever it is you kids play these days. Click on source for images of heatsink and greater details.
I’m waiting for the box to ship my xbox360 to you. Can you give me a eta.
I shpped my xbox360 to you on 10 oct. 2007. Thank you for sending the box for shipment.
Could you give me a time on my repair on my xbox360 ?
Think you have me somehow confused with Microsoft, I just happened to write about their products. From what I hear though it takes roughly 2 to 3 weeks Xbox 360 repairs.
