TigerDirect May Purchase CompUSA Stores

January 4th, 2008 at 17:25 under News.

It’s been public news that CompUSA is in the process of shutting down it’s physical locations across the United States but what’s news to me is the fact that TigerDirect is purchasing the stores from CompUSA’s liquidator. TigerDirect, a prominent e-tailer, apparently has purchased CompUSA stores in Chicago in the past and if the rumors are true will be buying locations in the Miami area. I must say this strikes me as an odd business move as the past has shown that there has been a shift in purchasing patterns from brick and mortar stores to online stores as they tend to feature cheaper prices and no taxes which can be an incredible incentive on expensive electronics. Good luck TigerDirect, hopefully you can fix whatever broke within CompUSA’s store. I’d suggest starting with the employees, educate them a bit in electronics.
