BiTMICRO Goes Big With SSD
02.05.08 - 02:47pm
BiTMICRO has stepped ahead of the competition again with the launch of their 1.6 Terabyte Solid State Drive. This drive will initially launch on the Ultra320 SCSI interface and be capable of bursting data at 320MB/s, the limitation on the Ultra320 connection, while maintaining sustained transfers of 230MB/s. Given that BiTMICRO’s drives are primarily used in military and aerospace applications, the price tag must be a big number followed by atleast 4 zeros. Compared to consumer 64GB and 128GB SATA SSD’s, the E-DISK Altima Ultra320 SCSI SSD is a beast of a drive but hopefully the research that went into this drive will trickle down to consumer-level applications. This drive would be perfect for my proposed sub-zero overclocking chamber. It after all has a performance temperature range of negative 40 Celsius to 85 Celsius. I’ll take two on SATA please.
