Nvidia 9600GT Is Out In The Wild
02.21.08 - 12:35am
Nvidia’s next generation video cards have started to hit retailers starting with the 9600GT. Contrary to previous generations with the product launching starting at the high-end and working it’s way to the bottom, the 9xxx series will start with the mid-range followed by a mixture of high and low end parts. Just to put this new 9600GT in comparison, it will sit below the 8800GT, equal the 8800GS, and compete with the HD3850. Given that this 65nm GPU will utilize high speed GDDR3 and is a derivative of the 8800GT, which has been shown to overclock very well with modest cooling, it wouldn’t be surprising if this 9600GT really brings the heat to AMD’s midrange.
The recent price drops to AMD’s HD38xx series though could diminish the interest in this card as the HD3850 was dropped to $169 and the HD3870 was dropped to $189, putting both cards in competition with the 9600GT. Here are some slides detailing the 9600GT from DailyTech and a preview from VR-Zone. If you want to pick up one of these badboys today, head on over to Newegg who has them in stock and close to MSRP. The bigger brothers to this card, the 9800GTX and 9800GX2 have both been pushed back till March, not much longer though till we have new performance leaders.

Woah, there were a ton of spelling and formatting errors in this post, sorry about that. Fingers weren’t following directions at all, must be all excited about new silicon.
These look pretty good but I can’t help but feel most people will be waiting for the 9800, the cheapest i’ve seen it for in the UK is about £117 which I think was an XpertVision. I suppose it will be hard to determine if this is good value or not until we see the emergence of the 9800.
hi ,i bought this card for 8500 rs(thats about 195$ us) ,i know i could have got it for less amount but i could not bargain much because of some reasons
i would say for all of you using a 17′ monitor this is a perfect card because i checked the fps of crysis at max settings with 8x aa running about 25 to 30 fps at 1024*768 ,so perfect for a 17′ monitor ,also no heating issues
but yes the price which i bought for it was a bit high ,u can or should get this for below 8000 rs thats about (189$ us)
