Project Nissan 240SX: Day 2

Today went off without a hitch. I had planned on doing all this on Day 1 but my evening was cut short for dinner/date and play. Saw two plays, was most interesting. Day 2 consisted of roughly 3 hours tearing into the engine pulling all the vacuum lines, wiring harness, radiator inlet pipe, and a slew of smaller components around the front of the engine.

Progress

Below are the shots of what I’ve done so far. I was working slowly as I was labeling everything and snapping pictures of every piece removed. So far I snapped 112 images for 3 hours of work. Today I just pulled the hood off the car and began removing all the components that surround the engine along with all the vacuum lines. After pulling the intake off a small flood of water/oil poured out of the throttle body which further confirms the thoughts of a blown head gasket. The oil also had a ton of water/gunk in it which is also indicative of a blown head gasket.

The Plan

Day 3 will consist of pulling off the front fascia, removing the throttle body, the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and then the head. I imagine this will be a 2 day event as I’ll most likely have to use some WD40 to penetrate the rusted bolts on the exhaust manifold. I hope I can pull off the head without too much effort, really want to see what I blew up.
