Been Busy Benchmarking!
10.15.08 - 07:17pm
Hey guys, I haven’t forgotten I have a blog to maintain. I did however have another streak of benchmarking and hardware reviewing that effectively consumed my life. I had another 180L dewar of liquid nitrogen delivered to my house and spent the last week benchmarking the stack of hardware I had saved up. This was however cut short due to the massive LN2 losses I’ve suffered from weak insulation on the dewar. I used ~75 liters and the remained 105 liters evaporated in the course of 12 days. Need to contact AirGas about this but that’s beside the point.
Rampage Extreme
This board has become the other board sitting on my bench next to my Gigabyte EP45T-Extreme. It’s really a damn shame that I finally got one of these boards two months before Intel’s Core i7 launches. I won’t have much more time to play with this setup before Core i7 but right now I’m having a blast with it. I am able to bench at 6400MHz to 6500MHz which is a good 300MHz higher than I was able to do with any other board. Right now I’m not CPU limited but board limited. The board becomes unstable past 645FSB so there’s some tweaking left to do and I may be able to break 6600MHz and do some serious damage. Here’s a few results from my last bench session.

Legit Reviews
I’ve been working with Nathan Kirsch of LegitReviews for the last 2 months and it’s been going incredibly well. I’ve currently contributed 9 reviews and am working on the 10th and 11th reviews as I speak. Working with Nathan has landed a lot more hardware in my hands which I’ve enjoyed and I look forward to continue working with him. Here’s an image from my last review of EVGA’s 790i SLI FTW Digital.

HP Contest
On the 18th I’ll be announcing the terms of my contest for HP’s Freshman Fifteen promotion. It should be rather simple as I don’t want to make it any harder than it needs to be for me or for you. I wish you all the best of luck. Right before the contest I’ll finish up the short review of the laptop as it’s quite impressive.
Georgia Tech
I’ll be back at school this upcoming spring and I hope to graduate either Fall 2009 or Spring 2010. I’ve been counting the weeks till school starts back for me as I’ve been most frustrated just waiting around to continue my college education. I can’t wait to be back in school though, it sure as hell beats being in the real world without a degree and no real work opportunities available to me.
Now back to work I go. I’m competing in Summer Forum Wars for OC Forums in their Ultra Xtreme team. Since I have no serious GPUs I’m forced to make up some points in the multi-threaded tests. Aiming at benching my new QX9650 at 5600MHz to 5700MHz, just hope I have enough liquid nitrogen left to accomplish this. Be back soon with that HP DV4T review.
Now where would be the best spot to watch you crash and burn at school/college again?
